HR Wallingford
HR Wallingford is a recognized center of excellence for civil engineering and environmental consultancy, with a specialism in port and dredging projects. They offer a full range of environmental solutions tailored to meet the individual requirements of projects. Their approach integrates environmental assessment into their hydrodynamic modelling, dredging, flood risk and engineering advisory services. HR Wallingford’s expertise in dredging and reclamation is recognized internationally. They cover a wide range of disciplines, from hydraulics to geotechnics, to dredger modelling and marine surveys. They have an international track record of achievement in applied coastal research and specialist consultancy. They use their detailed knowledge of coastal environments and processes to deliver sustainable strategies and solutions. Their world-renowned experts work with a wide range of clients, from consultants and contractors to developers, local and regional governments, regulators, NGOs and private landowners. They provide advice at all stages of a project from initial high-level advice, to the specification and supervision of field work and onto detailed computational and physical modelling for engineering design and environmental impact assessment.
They use TELEMAC to support their work, a modelling system for free surface waters. It has used an unstructured mesh finite element model since it was conceived 20 years ago. TELEMAC was developed by EDF-LNHE, Paris and is now under the directorship of a consortium of organizations including EDF-LNHE and HR Wallingford. A Kernel of developers from these organizations carries out the software developments together with contributions from many universities and other organizations.

GSD
Geo Smart Decisions (GSD) is a geospatial consultancy based in the UK providing expert GIS, mapping, spatial data management and spatial analysis services in the environment sector since 2011. Projects have included a range of applications in environmental data management for projects in the UK, the Middle East, Africa and South America across all of the, public, private and the not-for-profit sectors.
GSD has a strong grounding in environmental science with Managing Director Dr Crona Hodges having a first-class degree in Environmental Science from University of Stirling and over 15 years of experience working in the environmental planning sector. With a PhD in remote sensing and using spatial data to understand habitat mapping at a Ramsar Site and Special Area of Conservation in the UK, Crona combines this domain expertise in environmental issues with skills and experience in the fields of GIS and Earth Observation.
GSD uses both vector and raster based data and spatial analyses on a range of projects including site suitability applications in the renewables sector for example, feasibility reporting and specialist input for Environmental Impact Assessments and all aspects of environmental planning.
GSD as a company has grown and expanded over the years employing specialists in the fields of GIS and remote sensing as well as working in association with expert leaders. Our intentions at GSD are to work closely with clients to understand the environmental data and management requirements at hand, apply our knowledge and experience of spatial data and analysis and to gather data and build tools that assist in better management and understanding of the natural environment.
